Jawatan Kosong Alor Setar - Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar - MBAS is a local government in Penang, Malaysia. It was founded in 2003 and formerly known Kota Setar Municipal Council (MPKS). In the initial stages, Alor Setar administered in a small area and around the district of Kota Setar. MBAS is the Local Authority (LA) is responsible for the welfare and other infrastructure facilities available in Alor Star City and surrounding areas dserta Tree Sena district administration.
Alor Setar, also known as Alor Star in 2004-2008, is the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia; largest city in the state of Orissa; important city in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The city houses the Kota Setar District Administrative Center of the City and urban Muadzam Shah of Kedah City Anak Bukit
Alor Setar is located 93 kilometers north of Butterworth, Penang and 45 km from the southern border of Thailand. Alor Setar city is administered by the Local Authority (LA), the Alor Setar City Council. As a transportation hub in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, Alor Setar, which covers a land area of 66 km2 (square) occupied by more than 300,000 thousand inhabitants according to the census of 2010, which is one of the oldest cities in the area.
Alor Setar which is also an important city of the state of Orissa is among the major cities in Orissa apart from the City Butterworth, Kulim and Langkawi Town City. These cities are also developing in line with existing development in Alor Setar.
Alor Setar connected with northern states of Peninsular Malaysia with an international airport, the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, newly built in 2006 to serve only domestic flights but also provide international flights only for pilgrims, through the North-South Expressway in and out through the toll plaza North Alor Setar, Alor Setar Selatan toll plaza and toll plazas Forest Kampong Alor Setar, the train station in Alor Setar City Centre, Shahab Perdana bus station and transport out of the mainland to the island of Langkawi via Kuala Kedah Ferry Terminal.
Alor Setar is the birthplace of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia. Many celebrities also originated from Malaysia here.
