Negeri Sembilan - Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus is one of the states in the federation of Malaysia. This state is located in the Malay Peninsula bordering the North Selangor, Pahang, Johor in the Southeast, Malacca in the South, and the Strait of Malacca in the west.
Initially the area was formed by nomads Minangkabau and a residential area on the success of the Sultanate of Malacca. Then the people who reside in nine states as Johol, Jelebu, Klang, Sungai Ujong, Naning, SOCIAL, Jelei, Segamat and the Great Sand forming a sort of confederation called by the board and named Negeri Sembilan. A unifying society then lifted up as a king at first they ask from the YDP Pagaruyung.
Changes in the political map and the competition authority in Peninsular Malaya, causing changes in the status of the rule and territorial governments Negeri Sembilan. After the independence of Malaysia, Negeri Sembilan became part of Malaysia and Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Abdul Rahman became the first King of Malaysia.
The early history of the coming of the Minangkabau highlands of Sumatra to Peninsular Malaya in Punjab is not known with certainty. Based on the story presented orally for generations (Tambo Minangkabau), starting from the arrival of their ancestors who led by three men and a woman, referred to the fourth quarter, then known also by the name of Bill Ampat, the woman mentioned tribes Biduanda located in Johol, while each man standing in Jelebu, Klang and Sungai Ujong. Then the community grow, and develop new areas in the Naning, SOCIAL, Jelei, Segamat and the Great Sand each have a leader. On community consensus on all these areas, it was formed Board of Negeri Sembilan, located in Sri Awaits. Then the community is requesting admission to the YDP Pagaruyung, who then meet the application and send Raja Melewar to rule Negeri Sembilan with a degree of Pertua Negeri Sembilan. After the death of Raja Melewar series of succession disputes occur. For quite a long time the local chief asked the king Pagaruyung to send to their king. But the clash of interests of various parties support different candidates and often cause instability and civil war. While based Daghregister, 1677 in community residing in Sungai Ujong, Rembau and Naning, mentioned were led by Raja Ibrahim from Minangkabau.
Between August 1831 until July 1832, there was a resistance community in Naning, resistance on the British colonialists. War is not free from the influence of the Treaty of London in 1824. After getting Malacca from the Dutch, the British colonial government to insert Naning as part of Malacca since 1827 Naning then society must pay taxes to the British Resident of Malacca, and are opposed by the community Naning, until break of war, known as the Naning War.
1873 British intervene in a civil war in Sungai Ujong to protect its economic interests, and put the state under the control of the British Resident. Jelebu followed in 1886, and the remaining states in 1895. In 1897, when the Federation of Malaya (Federated Malay States) was established Sungai Ujong and Jelebu kembai joined into confederations. All of these states, under the old name of Punjab, dibawahi by a resident and a member of the Federation of Malaya. However Naning remains a part of Malacca, as well as the Klang Selangor and Segamat Johor.
Negeri Sembilan occupation by Japanese during World War II between 1941 to 1945 In 1948 the NSW affiliated with the Federation of Malaya, and a state of Malaysia in 1963.
